SMS Notifications

TrackShip allows you to send SMS updates to your customers automatically based on the shipment and delivery statuses of their orders.

With SMS Notifications, you can:

  • Notify customers when their orders are shipped, in transit, out for delivery, or delivered.
  • Personalize your SMS content with dynamic shipment tracking variables.
  • Integrate easily with leading global and local SMS providers.

What is an SMS Service provider?

An SMS gateway or MMS gateway allows a computer or web application to send and receive messages (SMS or MMS) through telecommunications networks.
TrackShip integrates with multiple SMS API providers, making it easy to connect your store and start sending notifications instantly.

TrackShip integrates with the following SMS API providers:

Connecting Your SMS Service Provider

  1. In your TrackShip dashboard, go to TrackShip → Store → Settings → SMS Settings.
  2. Select your SMS provider from the dropdown list.
  3. Enter the following details:
    Sender Number (the phone number or sender ID from which SMS messages will be sent)
    Access Token (API Key or Auth Token provided by your SMS provider)
  4. Click Save to complete the setup.

Enabling Shipment Status SMS

Once your Store is connected:

  1. Go to TrackShip → Store → Settings → SMS.
  2. Enable the shipment statuses you want to trigger SMS notifications for (e.g., In Transit, Delivered, Out for Delivery, etc.).

You can personalize your SMS templates using shipment tracking variables, such as {tracking_number},{shipping_provider},{tracking_link},

Available Message Placeholders

The following variables are available to use in the shipment updates SMS notifications:

{tracking_number} Tracking number/code for the shipment
{shipping_provider}Shipping carrier
{tracking_link} Link to the tracking page to track the shipment
{shipment_status}Shipment Status (i.e. In Transit, Out for Delivery, etc.)
{est_delivery_date} The estimated delivery date for that shipment (if supported by the shipping provider API)
{customer_name},Customer Name
{order_id} Order id
